30 seconds

Most casual surfers will decide the fate of your blog in the first 30 seconds. Will they continue reading? Will the return? Will they bookmark, blogroll or comment? What keeps you coming back to a blog? Leave a brief comment.

Hello :)

I did bookmark (not blogmark, used my browser's book mark for the page) and I did come back to several blogs. I'm still new to this service so there's not much links that I have viewed so far. From my view, I look at the discussion content (blog content) and decide if I should return back to the page. Some people writes about some "interesting" stuffs and some just uses humour to pull people back.

For me, software development technologies, hardware technologies -- their reviews, would definately make me come back. If there's just a normal daily story, it'll depend on the content of it I guess. I do read through "almost" all the blogs I visit and I tend to judge :)

That's just me view though. Cheers! :)

Write like a friend having a conversation with me. That grabs me and keeps me around. The topic really doesn't matter.

I was thinking the same thing a few months ago! You have 30 seconds to get people interested, So a snappy title, interesting content, and a chance to get interactive (make people do something, click a link, laugh, leave a comment) is a good post for me.
Political, mummy and knitting blogs make me click before the 30 seconds are up.
And being a youthleader is the best, most fun job in the world!

I revisited due to the fact that I posted a comment and wanting to see a reply :)

It takes me less than 30 seconds to decide that. But, I stayed for more than that because this happened to be non-boring.

What keeps me in a blog is if there are interesting and not revolting pictures, also if they are talking about something that interests me ie: Christianity, kids, spouses etc. :}

Clever wit. If I see a clever comment I will stay and read further. If I see an interesting image I will stay and look further.

All these new blog designs... they trick you... oh look it's a cool design! But... with absolutely no interesting content.

What does it for me? Good content, be it funny, witty, or on a topic I'm interested in. Also sometimes good web design brings me back.

I think that a good mix of long and short posts is good, some short ones introduce me to the blog and when I have time I can read the longer ones.

I come back when I find the subjects
interesting to me.I would love to see
a blog about walkers who have medical
problems and it makes it harder for them
to walk.But they keep walking.......
